Frequently served hot with ice cream or milk, the brownie remains the most appraised dessert of all time. It is sometimes delicately covered with a sugar based icing or can also be flavored with mint or vanilla.
Small sized, brown colored and extremely rich in chocolate; these are just a few things that comes to our mind when we talk about brownies.
Here are some brownie recipes that are worth a try when you have time:
== Basic Brownies
~ 1 square (1 oz.) unsweetened chocolate ~ 1 tsp vanilla ~ 1 egg ~ 1/4 tsp soda ~ 1/4 cup butter or margarine ~ 1/4 tsp salt ~ 2/3 cup flour ~ 3/4 cup sugar ~ 2 tbsp milk
Mix together the flour, soda and salt. Let the butter and chocolate melt together in the top of a double boiler over hot water. Remove from heat. Blend in the sugar little by little, while keep beating thoroughly.
Add egg and beat well. Gradually add all the dry ingredients and blend thoroughly along with milk and vanilla. Cover the baked butterscotch base with the mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Let cool and cut into bars.
== Apple Brownies
~ 3/4 tsp soda ~ 3/4 tsp cinnamon ~ 3/4 tsp baking powder ~ 3/4 cup nuts ~ 3 apples, chopped ~ 2 eggs ~ 1-1/2 cup sugar ~ 1-1/2 cup flour ~ 1-1/2 stick margarine
Insert margarine, eggs & sugar. Drop flour, soda, baking powder and cinnamon ; Combine well. Then add in apples and nuts. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.
== Caramel Oatmeal Brownies
Butterscotch Base:
~ 1 cup oatmeal ~ 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar ~ 1/3 cup melted butter or margarine ~ 1/3 cup sifted flour ~ 1/4 tsp soda ~ 1/8 tsp salt
Mix the soda, flour & salt together. Insert the brown sugar and oatmeal; whip until well blended. The add the margarine or butter to mix again until mixture is crumbly. Press firmly into an ungreased 7X7 by 2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
== Brownies: Snicker Bar
~ 1 German Chocolate Cake Mix ~ 1 Large bag Snickers or Milk Way Bars ~ 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk ~ 3/4 cup melted margarine
Mix cake mix with melted margarine and condensed milk. Insert about 1/2 of the mixture into a pan (13 by 9). Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Slice candy bars into small slices. Set these on top of the crust that was just baked. Crumble the residual batter on the candy bars top. This will give it a cool texture.
You don't have to make it smooth by spreading it on the top. Place into the oven and bake it at 350 degrees for 20 min.
== Brownies With Banana
~ 1 cup butter ~ 1 cup chocolate chips ~ 1 tsp salt ~ 1 tsp vanilla ~ 2 tsp baking soda ~ 3 cups flour ~ 3 eggs ~ 3/4 cup brown sugar ~ 3/4 cup sugar ~ 6 very ripe bananas
First preheat the oven at 350 degrees.
Insert margarine. Drop bananas, sugars, vanilla and eggs. Combine well. Drop salt, flour & soda and mix well. Then add in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips.
Insert into greased 13 by 9 inch pan. Spray the residual 1/2 cup of chocolate chips on top.
== Brownies: Fudge Mint
~ 3 eggs ~ 1-1/4 cup flour ~ 1 cup nuts; chopped ~ 1/2 tsp salt ~ 1/2 tsp baking Soda ~ 1/2 cup butter ~ 1 cup sugar ~ 1-1/2 tsp vanilla extract ~ 3 tbsp water ~ 1-1/2 cups mint-Chocolate Chips
First preheat the over at 350 degrees.
Mix salt, flour and baking soda in a little bowl; put aside. Mix butter, sugar & water in a medium saucepan; heat until it reach the boling point. Remove from heat. Drop vanilla extract and the mint chocolate chips; stir until you see that the chips are melted and the mixture will be smooth.
Transfer to a larger bowl. Drop eggs, one by one, while keep whipping well after each addition. Slowly beat in flour mixture. Blend in nuts. Insert into a greased 13 by 9 X 2-inch baking pan. Bake for about 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool.
